Burswood arrival guide

Getting to Crown Perth without wilting on the way

Crown Perth sits on Great Eastern Highway in Burswood, on the river side of the city, and all three of its hotels share one Google Maps pin. In summer the trick is less about the route than the hour: arrive before the heat sets in or after it breaks, and keep the walking part short. Pick your starting point below and open the live route.

The desk confirms the room and the rate by email, usually within one working day. Sunshine is free and so is this site: if a summer room request made here turns into a confirmed stay, the hotel or the booking partner pays us a commission; you pay the hotel's rate and nothing more.

Received. The desk will email you the room and the rate.

  • Morning flight

Take the train from Airport Central while the day is still mild, and be at the pool by early afternoon.

  • Midday landing

This is the hour for a taxi from the rank: door to door, air-conditioned, no platform wait.

  • Evening arrival

Train to Burswood, then the Crown shuttle if it is still running, or a short walk once the air cools.

  • Match night

Leave the car alone. P8 closes on Optus Stadium event days, and the walk to the stadium is 15 to 20 minutes.

From Perth Airport (PER)

Perth Airport, code PER, is about 10 kilometres east of the city centre by secondary sources, and Crown sits roughly 3 kilometres east of the CBD, so you are not crossing the whole city to reach the pool. What matters first is which terminal you land at. The airport works as two precincts: T1 and T2 on one side of the runway, T3 and T4 on the other.

From T1 or T2 you have a train at the door. Airport Central station, by secondary sources, connects to T1 by a 280-metre elevated walkway, and Airport line trains run about every 12 minutes at weekday peak and every 15 minutes off-peak and at weekends, thinning to half-hourly or hourly late at night. The run to Perth station takes about 18 minutes. Crown is on a different line, so you change for Burswood; the train link above lets Google pick the best interchange on the day.

From T3 or T4 the nearest station is Redcliffe, about a kilometre away by secondary sources, with bus route 292 looping between the station and the terminals. With summer luggage, that is a lot of standing about on hot concrete. A taxi from the rank is the kinder option at midday; ask for Crown Perth on Great Eastern Highway, Burswood, and name your hotel, Towers, Metropol or Promenade.

By train to Burswood, then the shuttle

Burswood station sits on the Armadale and Thornlie lines, 4.8 kilometres out from Perth station by secondary sources, at the north-eastern end of Burswood Park according to the park's own visitor page. Platform 1 takes you back towards Perth.

Crown runs a complimentary shuttle that collects outside the food court and drops off at Burswood train station. It runs Sunday to Thursday and on public holidays from 9am to 7:55pm, and Friday and Saturday from 9am to 8:55pm, and it does not run on Christmas Day, Good Friday or from 3am to midday on ANZAC Day. On a hot afternoon, the shuttle is the difference between arriving fresh and arriving pink.

A second station, Stadium Station, lies at the far north of the park and serves Optus Stadium; the park recommends Burswood station for the picnic areas and the river foreshore.

Driving in and parking

Crown's address is Great Eastern Highway, Burswood, and the resort publishes more than 4,000 bays, open around the clock. Car parks P3, P6 and P8 are free; P1 Undercroft, P2 Multi-Level and P4 Riverside are paid, with P4 reached via Resort Drive. Two details catch people out in summer: P8 is unavailable on Optus Stadium event days, and the Level 2 entrance from the Multi-Level car park is restricted to guests aged 18 and over.

Spend $50 or more at a participating restaurant and Crown lets you park free in P2 or P4; Crown Rewards members on qualifying tiers park free for 24 hours from earning it. Valet parking is offered at the three hotels. Rates change, so check Crown Perth's parking page before you go. In January heat, the undercover P1 and the multi-level P2 keep the car, and the steering wheel, cooler than an open lot.

Taxis, buses and walking in

Burswood Park's visitor page notes dedicated taxi ranks at Crown Perth and at Optus Stadium on Victoria Park Drive, and none inside the park itself. Buses stop near Resort Drive, with another stop near Bolton Avenue for passengers travelling east on Great Eastern Highway; Transperth's journey planner has the current routes and times, which this guide does not print.

On foot, the city side connects to Burswood over the Causeway or the Matagarup Bridge. Crown puts Optus Stadium a short 15 to 20 minute walk away along the river. Save these walks for early morning or after sunset in summer, carry water, and read our notes on stadium nights and the Swan River before you set out.

Timing your arrival around the heat

Our rule for a Perth summer arrival is simple: land, get indoors, then go out again when the light softens. Tell the desk in your request how you are arriving, whether a morning train, a midday taxi or a car that needs P1 shade, and the reply can match the room, the pool and the timing. For the rest of the day's shape, see beating the heat. Transport details on this page were checked on 29 October 2026.
