Walking to the Stadium via Burswood Park

Optus Stadium sits just north of the three Crown Perth hotels along the Burswood Peninsula. Staying on site removes the need to negotiate post-event road closures, event traffic or overcrowded train carriages. By secondary venue notes, the walk between Crown Perth and Optus Stadium takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes along paved, lit paths through Burswood Park.

Pedestrian access across the river foreshore connects the resort grounds directly to the stadium precinct. For guests coming from the Perth central business district, pedestrian access to Burswood Park is provided via the Causeway or the Matagarup Bridge. If you are staying at Crown Towers, Crown Metropol or Crown Promenade, you can simply step outside, pass the resort grounds and follow the river foreshore path north toward the stadium arches.

During hot summer evenings, taking this walk closer to sunset offers cooler breezes off the water. The flat foreshore terrain makes for an easy stroll before the gates open, allowing you to bypass the long queues at nearby transport hubs.

Timing Dinner Before the Event

With event crowds filling local venues ahead of major games or concerts, securing a table early is essential. Crown Perth operates a wide selection of restaurants and dining venues suitable for a quick pre-match bite or a relaxed sit-down meal.

If you prefer a formal dinner before heading to the stadium, signature venues like Rockpool Bar & Grill, Nobu, Silks and Modo Mio sit within the resort grounds. Reservations are strongly recommended on event dates. For a faster meal before hitting the foreshore path, casual dining options include 88 Noodle Bar, Junction Grill, and The Merrywell. The Urban Food District also offers quick counter-service choices, including Burgers by ES, Side Piece Pizza, Taco Daddy, and Tekka Bar.

To avoid rushing your meal or missing kick-off, plan to finish dining at least 40 minutes before you intend to be inside the stadium. This leaves ample time for the 15-to-20-minute walk through Burswood Park and ticket checks at the gates.

Returning to the Resort After the Match

When the event ends, tens of thousands of spectators exit toward Stadium Station and Victoria Park Drive. Walking back to Crown Perth allows you to avoid the dense crowds waiting for trains or rideshares.

The foreshore path south through Burswood Park brings you back to the complex in around 20 minutes. Once back inside the resort, you can bypass the street-level traffic entirely. Late-night options are available for guests looking to unwind after a show or game. Cocktail lounges across the precinct include TWR, Mesh Bar, Fusion, and 42 by Don Julio, located inside TWR. For guests seeking late-night refreshments, Cotta and casual lounges inside the venue stay open late.

If you prefer to end the night quietly, returning to your room at Crown Towers, Metropol or Promenade gives you immediate access to air-conditioned comfort while the surrounding roads clear out.

Transport, Parking and Shuttle Options

Driving into the Burswood precinct on a major event night requires a bit of forward planning. Crown Perth features over 4,000 parking bays operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including free, paid, undercover, and open-air car parks. Complimentary parking is available in car parks P3, P6, and P8, while paid structured parking is offered at P2 Multi-Level, P4 Riverside, and P1 Undercroft. Electric vehicle charging stations are located in P1, P2, and via Crown Towers Valet.

Guests dining at participating signature restaurants who spend $50 or more can receive free parking at the P2 or P4 car parks. However, on major stadium nights, resort car parks can fill quickly. Arriving early in the afternoon guarantees a smoother parking experience before event traffic peaks.

For guests arriving via public transport, Burswood train station is situated on the Armadale/Thornlie line at the north-eastern end of Burswood Park. Crown operates a complimentary shuttle service dropping off at Burswood train station, running Sunday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 7:55 pm, and Friday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 8:55 pm (excluding select public holidays). A dedicated taxi rank is also located on Victoria Park Drive outside the resort.
